Patients at Lake Huron Medical Center now have minimally invasive surgical options thanks to the addition of the da Vinci® Si™ Surgical System.

The da Vinci® Si™ offers enhanced 3D, high-definition vision of the operative field, superior visual clarity of tissue and anatomy, and surgical dexterity and precision far greater than the human hand.

“This technology allows for smaller, more precise incisions which results in less scarring and quicker recovery times for our patients” said Krishna Valjee, MD, one of three Lake Huron Medical Group surgeons who is performing surgical procedures using the da Vinci® Si™ at Lake Huron Medical Center.

In addition to Krishna Valjee, MD, Lake Huron Medical Group surgeons, Aaron Overly, DO and Shilpin Mehta, DO have also received specialized robotic training and are performing surgical procedures using the da Vinci® Si™ at Lake Huron Medical Center.

“Patients who are having their surgeries performed robotically are not only recovering faster, they are experiencing less pain and returning to work faster” said Aaron Overly, DO.

The most common benefits for patients who undergo robotically-assisted surgery using the da Vinci® Si™ include:

  • Significantly less pain

  • Less bleeding

  • Smaller incisions resulting in less scarring

  • Quicker recovery time

  • A faster return to normal daily activities

da Vinci’s advanced level of technology takes surgery beyond the limits of the human hand and can be used for a multitude of procedures.

“This acquisition complements our goal of extending minimally invasive surgery to a broader base of patients” said Shilpin Mehta, DO. “Residents of the Blue Water community don’t need to drive hundreds of miles to receive comprehensive surgical care - it's right here in their backyard at Lake Huron Medical Center.”
