Family Care

Family Medicine, like any other branch of medicine, has its own unique body of knowledge and training. This includes six areas of medicine: pediatrics, surgery, internal medicine, psychiatry, community medicine and obstetrics/gynecology. Our physicians are trained to provide continuing and comprehensive health care in the community, and to practice and teach preventative medicine.

Dr. Patrick Kut’s patient care philosophy is based upon interactive communication between the patient and the physician. Communication is the essential link to gaining an understanding of a patient’s medical history and resolving any health issues, both emotionally and physically. Whether its treating an ongoing health concern or the every day bumps and scrapes of life, Dr. Kut will work with the patients to achieve a comprehensive treatment plan. Through this philosophy, Dr. Kut has been successfully providing care for entire families, from infants to senior patients.

Dr. Kut provides services such as immunizations, sports physicals, pediatric physicals, well-baby visits, pelvic and breast exams, adult and geriatric medicine, cholesterol, diabetes and high blood pressure care manage- ment, minor office surgery, e-prescribing, and disease registry.

Dr. Kut received his medical degree from the Ross University School of Medicine in New York. He received his board certified training in Family Medicine from Bon Secours Family Practice, Bon Secours Hospital, Grosse Pointe, Michigan and is Board Certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Kut has been serving in private practice for a number of years. He maintains associations and affiliations with the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Robert Sachs practice philosophy is to build long-lasting, family-type relationships with his patients. This philosophy that is why he is dedicated to providing comprehensive, coordinated health care to patients in the Blue Water Area. He believes a health partnership between the physician, the patient and the patient's family, when appropriate, is essential in the overall health and care of the community.

As a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician, Dr. Sachs holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and earned his medical degree from Wayne State University. A resident of the Blue Water Area, Dr. Sachs is vested and committed to providing patients of all ages and genders with high-quality, compassionate care.

Dr. Sushma Reddy will continue as Chair of the Diabetes Excellence Team and develop expanded services to address prevalent chronic illness throughout our community; including an intensive diabetes management program, a continuous glucose monitoring clinic, a thyroid cancer and radioactive iodine treatment clinic, osteoporosis prevention and treatment as well as a fracture liaison service. These programs will complement the primary care provided by a patient's physician and work hand-in-hand with our clinically integrated network to achieve optimal quality outcomes.

Dr. Reddy's appointment as our Director of Population Health is another meaningful program that will ultimately improve the health of our community.

Dr. Sushma Reddy takes great pride in being available to her patients and colleagues in the community. She is committed to building strong relationships with every patient based on mutual respect and open communica- tion. She works to inform and educate her patients in order to provide the best possible treatment plan.

Dr. Reddy provides services such as diabetes management and education, insulin pump therapy, thyroid, adrenal and pituitary disorders, osteoporosis-bone and calcium disorders, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

On staff at Lake Huron Medical Center for more than 25 years, Dr. Reddy's professional roles include a wide range of experience. Previously she served as Vice Chief of Endocrinology, Department of Internal Medicine Grace Division at Harper-Grace Hospitals in Detroit, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Wayne State University in Detroit, as well as her private practice in endocrinology care.

Dr. Reddy earned her medical degree from Kakatiya Medical College and completed a rotating internship at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital. She completed her residency program in Internal Medicine at Wayne State University and completed her Fellowship training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Wayne State University.

Current Population Health Management programs offered include:

Intensive Diabetes Management Clinic

A multidisciplinary patient centered team (RN, CDE, NP and MD) approach to improve glucose control over a 12-16 week period with a goal of A1C < 8% or a 2% reduction and patient empowerment. Patient needs to be willing to commit to weekly to semi-weekly appointments.

Diabetes Education/Medical Nutrition Therapy Consults

Individual and group Classes, for those patients newly diagnosed with diabetes or in need of information to manage their diabetes with emphasis on self-management goals. Medical nutrition therapy consists of instruction from our registered dietician for issues involving nutrition.

Continuous Glucose Monitoring Clinic

Patient wears minimally invasive monitor placed on abdomen for 3-7 days with results and recommendation by Dr. Sushma Reddy.

Dr. Dawn Morey’s patient care philosophy is based upon interactive communication between the patient and the physician. Communication is the essential link to gaining an understanding of a patient’s medical history and resolving any surgical issues, both physically and emotionally. As a doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO), Dr. Morey is fully trained and licensed to prescribe medications and perform surgery. She utilizes all medically accepted scientific methods to maintain and restore your health. She will work closely with your primary care physician to consider all your medical needs.

Dr. Morey offers services including general surgery, laparoscopic procedures, minimally invasive surgery, ultrasound-guided breast biopsies, colonoscopy and endoscopy.

Although Dr. Morey primarily offers surgery through Lake Huron Medical Center, she remains dedicated to meeting the needs of the overall community and providing on-call surgical coverage to the Blue Water Area; and, as needed, to patients at Deckerville Community Hospital.

Dr. Morey received her medical degree from the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Kansas, City, Missouri. She completed her residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center, in Grand Blanc, Michigan; and is Board Certified in General Surgery. She has been in practice for more than 20 years.

Dr. Krishna Valjee plays an integral role in elevating the quality of care in our community and has taken an active role in all forms and processes that impact patient health. He has held several leadership positions at Lake Huron Medical Center, Lakeshore Ambulatory Surgery Center, and St. Clair County Medical Society including Chief of Department, Chief of Staff, Board of Trustees, Credentials Committee and Cancer Commit- tee Co-Chair, to name a few. Dr. Valjee is a true patient advocate.

Dr. Valjee provides services including general surgery, laparoscopic procedures, minimally invasive surgery, ultrasound-guided breast biopsies, colonoscopy and endoscopy.

Dr. Valjee received his Medical Degree from the University of Natal in Durban, South Africa. He performed his Internship and Residency programs at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan and became Fellowship trained in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital. He is Board Certified in General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery.

Dr. Walid Demashkieh believes early diagnosis is essential to your good health. He can care for all aspects of your surgical health and understands visiting a surgeon can cause anxiety. He goes above and beyond to offer comfort to his patients and is dedicated to putting them at ease, no matter the diagnosis. Dr. Demashkieh has the experience needed for an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.

Dr. Demashkieh provides services including general surgery, laparoscopic procedures, minimally invasive surgery, ultrasound-guided breast biopsies, colonoscopy and endoscopy.

Dr. Demashkieh graduated from Damascus University. He completed his internship at Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital, Detroit, Michigan and his residency at St. John Hospital, Detroit. He is a Board Certified General Surgeon. Dr. Demashkieh has been on staff for more than 36 years and has served in several leadership positions, including Chief of Surgery. He is a dedicated community leader supporting many organizations across the Blue Water Area.

Dr. Lee earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Michigan, his Masters of Medical Science from Drexel University and his Doctor of Osteopathy from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Lee is passionate about the athletic health of local sports teams. He has provided sideline coverage for the University of South Florida football team, as well as to various local varsity teams.

We are excited to have Dr. Lee as a member of our healthcare team. In addition to his office located at Lake Huron Medical Center - North Campus in Fort Gratiot, he is offering clinic appointments one day a week for McKenzie Hospital in Sandusky.

Dr. Mehta is committed to delivering surgical care that is of the highest quality and brings a strong focus on general and specialized areas of surgery that will add value and expertise to our patients and hospital.

He is a board eligible surgeon in general and bariatric surgery and specializes in robotic surgery using the da Vinci Surgery System.

Dr. Mehta received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, and his medical degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York, New York. His general surgery residency was completed at St. John Providence Oakland Hospital in Madison Heights. Dr. Mehta also served as a research assistant at the University of Michigan Cancer Center and Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Dr. Overly will be performing robotic procedures using da Vinci Si® technology at Lake Huron Medical Center. The hospital’s investment in this advanced technology, paired with specialized training affords patients a wide range of minimally invasive surgical procedure options.

He is a board eligible surgeon in general and bariatric surgery and specializes in robotic surgery using the da Vinci Surgery System.

Dr. Overly received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, and his medical degree from Touro University of Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine in Henderson, Nevada. He completed his general surgery residency with St. John Oakland Hospital in Warren where he severed as co-director of General Surgery Residency Education. Dr. Overly has also served as a Quality Improvement Advisor for Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte.
