Lake Huron Medical Center Names Jay E. de los Reyes New Chief Executive Officer

Jay E. de los Reyes, MSHA, MBA, has been named Chief Executive Officer of Lake Huron Medical Center (LHMC).

“It is an honor and a privilege for me to lead a hospital that has served the community so well for more than 60 years,” said de los Reyes upon accepting the position. “I look forward to working with the physicians, nurses, employees, leadership and the executive team at Lake Huron Medical Center to ensure the best care for the patients we serve.”

de los Reyes brings with him more than 10 years of administrative healthcare experience during which time he has served in several leadership capacities.

de los Reyes is currently serving as the Interim Chief Executive Officer for Memorial Hospital of Salem County in Salem, New Jersey where he provides oversight for the 126-bed community hospital and its primary service lines which include emergency services; inpatient medical-surgical care; inpatient and outpatient surgery, including bariatric weight-loss surgery and orthopedic surgery; intensive care; outpatient services such as wound care, physical therapy/rehabilitation, imaging services, laboratory, sleep and balance studies.

Previously, de los Reyes served as the Chief Operating Officer at Kosciusko Community Hospital. With more than 200 physicians on medical staff and nearly 500 full-time employees, Jay was responsible for the daily operations of a 72-bed acute care hospital and provided administrative oversight of Radiology, Laboratory, Sleep Lab, Plant Operations, Biomedical Engineering, Security, Nutritional Services, Environmental Services, Sleep Lab, Cardiopulmonary, Rehabilitation, Wellness, Urgent Care and Occupational Health departments.

Throughout the past year, Lake Huron Medical Center received the Women’s Choice Award in recognition of being among “America’s Best Hospitals in Emergency Care,” certification from Health Stream for “Excellence in Emergency Care” and earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The hospital has also made significant investments in its infrastructure, expanding and enhancing its services to include a TrueBeam linear accelerator – the most advanced radiation therapy treatment technology available; 80-slice CT scanners that sharpen imaging and advance diagnostic capabilities; a new urgent care and walk-in clinic located at Lake Huron Medical Center’s North Campus, a new pulmonary rehabilitation program and wound care center. Later this spring, LHMC will also be offering 3D mammography.

de los Reyes is a firm believer in community support and involvement which has been demonstrated through his involvement as the Healthcare Committee Chair for Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce, as a member of the Business Outreach Committee for the United Way and as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

“I will work closely with our local leadership team and stakeholders to ensure we are supporting current partnerships and continue to establish beneficial collaborative efforts with community organizations” said de los Reyes. “The economic health of our community is critically important to the success of our community based hospital.”

de los Reyes earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Birmingham Southern College and both a master's degree in business administration (M.B.A.) and in health administration (M.S.H.A.) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Lake Huron Medical Center looks forward to Jay de los Reyes’ leadership and enthusiasm when he joins the team in June. Until that time, serving as the Interim CEO is the current Chief Financial Officer, Chris Fulks.
